Taevas Noir novels take place in two universes; Earth-verse and Sovereign-verse. This page is just to let you know where each novel takes place, and what things are likely/possible there.
Earth-Verse Earth-verse stories take place on Earth, as we know it. However, we allow for supernatural phenomena on Earth! Earth-verse has ghosts, vampires, angels and demons and a secret history all it's own. Earth-verse is a world with our timeline, where the society current to it's date mimics our own. The following novels occur in Earth-verse: Coveiten, Captured, Blind Guardian, Three Years, Possession, Resurgence. A few novels by Taevas Noir are simple, regular stories with no sceince fiction or supernatural undertones. (I know, amazing!). Three Years and Resurgence (two novels built from the same premise with a slightly different twist) are completely regular, Earth-verse novels, so if you're not into any of the weird stuff, try these. Earth-verse follows our real-world historical timeline, with it's own special additions that 'mortals' are often unaware of; this is the supernatural side of Earth-verse. Captured takes place in the late 1800s, addressing events from Ancient Egypt to it's current day through the lives of Demons who came into being along the Nile. Meeting and completing the mythology of Captured is Blind Guardian, which takes place on current day Earth, following the lives of Angels and their mortal companions. Completing the supernatural elements are Possession, covering thousands of years of Vampiric presence on earth, but hosted in modern day Russia, and Coveiten which addresses the presence of Ghosts and Witchcraft and the human capacity for magic. Earth-verse is more a location than a limiter; all manner of supernatural phenomena can take place here. It's more likely that something unexplainable will occur in Earth-verse than in Sovereign-verse, where Science is so much more advanced than our own. Sovereign-Verse Sovereign-verse is a separate Universe. Earth-verse still exists within this Universe, but is considered too primitive and distant for anyone from Sovereign-verse to have any contact with. That does not make it impossible! Sovereign-verse is very much a Science Fiction universe, with advanced technologies and alien races. The following novels occur in Sovereign-verse: Sovereign, Synergistia, Alliant, Mirage. Sovereign-verse is massive. It encompasses a wide range of galaxies and peoples, many of whom will never have contact across novels. Sovereign-verse is ruled by a group called 'the Empire', with a race called 'Empiricals'. They rule over a wide range of worlds, but are at war with a blood drinking race known as 'the Asanti'. The Empire are extremely genetically advanced and long-lived, while the Asanti are highly technologically advanced, but do not live as long. Lining the Empire are a series of advanced worlds who are neutral to the war between the Empire and the Asanti. These buffer the Alliance from the Empire. (Sovereign and Mirage take place within Empirical space). The Alliance are a series of warring nations held in precarious balance by a treatise made and upheld on a space station in neutral space. Ambassadors from each planet of the Alliance galaxy live on the station and attempt to maintain peace between their worlds. (Alliance takes place in the Alliance galaxy). The worlds buffering the Alliance galaxy from Empirical Space are highly advanced, and as a group far more powerful than either the Empire or the Alliance. They generally ignore both groups and are considered 'neutral'. However, several planets withing the buffer zone have been at war with one another over the years. Several of these planets have become aware that an end to the struggles between the Empire and the Asanti will give either side the power required to finally infiltrate the buffer zone. These planets are now pushing for more power to consolidate their hold before the Empire-Asanti war comes to an end. (Synergistia takes place in the buffer zone.) |
